Everglades National Park Birding Tour: Loon

Loons are water birds, with their strong legs and large feet placed far back on their body. This makes them strong swimmers but gangly and awkward on land. The only go on land to mate and nest. They are fish eaters - diving underwater to catch and swallow them. Rarely do they even bring a fish to the surface.
