Everglades National Park Birding Tour: Terns
CASPIAN & ROYAL TERNS: I tend to confuse the Caspian and Royal Terns - both have black caps and large red bills - the Caspians are larger and the Royals caps are a little less defined. Both can be seen seen in Everglades National Park flying over the water with their bills pointing down. When they spot a fish - they make a dramatic plunge into the water to catch a meal. Other terns are often spotted - I'm not sure what those are in the photo to the left.
- They might be Arctic terns. What do you think?
